Speech-language pathologists (SLPs) are tasked with supporting students' communication skills in educational settings, yet traditional evaluation methods often fall short of capturing the full scope of students' needs. This presentation will provide a framework to integrate aspects of the curriculum into comprehensive evaluations. We will demonstrate how highmileage academic and social/emotional learning standards serve as an entry point for SLPs and how standards-based assessments can result in more meaningful evaluations and interventions. Case studies will illustrate how questionnaires, observations, and reviews of student work provide insights into students’ participation in academic and functional settings. By grounding assessments in the curriculum, SLPs can generate more functional goals to promote academic success and healthy social-emotional functioning.
